Potalaka is the translation of Sanskrits. The ten songs of Yuan- He- Miao- Yin, were sung by Master Hong Sheng and recorded in Putuo Mountain during 19-24 May, 2015. His purest sounds are the highest praise to Guanshiyin Bodhisattva. He cannot bear to see the sentient beings suffering and cannot endure the decline of Buddhism. He educates living beings with his miraculous sounds which can purify their souls. His music is beyond languages, words and ideologues. His simple voice with strong power shocks a lot of people and eliminates their annoyance. His music is the best way to demonstrate Buddha’s supreme Dharma: Buddha’s massage is using one sound, and is able to deliver to all the beings; all the audience can fully understand Him.
Vast eons ago, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva had understood the mind and seen the nature through the voice Dharma-door. Return the hearing and listen to your self-nature, and then you can reach the supreme Dharma. In the Leng Yen 25 perfect penetrations section, Manjushri Bodhisattva specially chose “Guanshiyin Bodhisattva’s Perfect Understanding of the Ear “ for the Saha World’s beings, because all beings in Saha World were good at listening, therefore, people preach Dharma with sounds and music. During Master Hong Sheng’s stay in Putuo Mountain, one day we happened to celebrate Manjushri Bodhisattva’s birthday. A Christian and a drummer of a rock band were there at the same time and they both were the sponsors of the first album of Master. From then, we can see people with different religious can be harmonious. They don’t show any bias against other religions. Their open-minded mindsets touch people’s heart.
We should follow Guanshiyin Bodhisattva’s footsteps to save other living creatures and bring benefit to them. Ones who were enlightened help those who aren’t. Make a vow to propagate Buddha-wisdom and Buddha-mind and save all beings sailing into the shore of enlightenment. At that time, we will meet in Potalaka, which is filled with beautiful little white flowers.
Master Hong Sheng enlightens us with dharma sounds, and purifies us with music. Wherever he goes, happiness follows. Due to the limitation of time and space, the people that have the opportunities to listen to Yuan-He-Miao-Yin, are very like a leaf in your hand, dust on a paw. The learners that have benefited from it feel that such chance is hard to encounter. They have sudden epiphany of benignity thinking to express the greatest will power. In the autumn of 2010, several followers and disciples, decided to finance this project at Tranquil Garden. They sincerely invited Master Hong Sheng to record “Yuan-He-Miao-Yin” at Send Studio in Kaohsiung Regularly to capture the original and purest music of sonority, clarity, clearness, tenderness, sadness, brightness, harmonious, and elegance. Then, his heavenly and inspiring music was recorded and preserved, awaiting the appropriate time to release for the benefit of the public.
As chance makes this recording possible, it relies on learner’s great vows. With truth and sincerity, we will be empowered with the supreme awakening of Buddha power.
In the summer of 2015, as time and space allowed, five miraculous songs were selected, with Tong Zhi Wei (Jcaklon Tung), a musician, to help with the post-production works. Then, the harmonious music came into being like the minute miraculous Zen, with light and sound shine. Pure benignity emerges, and the heaven and earth harmonize, illuminating the eternity in this secular world.
Original sounds aids bless to those who have already acquired a great deal of merits and virtues.
According to Immeasurable Lifespan sutra, “ If there are beings who heard about the sound of the Buddha, they can make their minds kind and pure, feel glad and happy, and get goose bumps all over or shed tears, that is because they have practiced Buddhism in their former lives, therefore they are not common people.” In the other hand, if not being blessed, we are not be able to hear the sound , the causes and effect slips away, how can we not cherish this opportunity?
Respect and honor the original sounds and share it to the world.
Let the original sound flows in our daily lives, to refresh the modern beings’ souls; in addition to learn from Mater Hong Sheng’s Buddhist teaching and apply it to our everyday lives, we will all be self-mastery, carefree and at liberty.
If the listeners share the album to others, the kindness and merits are beyond bounds.
The best family heirloom;
The sound heals people who are suffering from imbalanced bodies,
minds and souls;
The best company when travelers are away from homes;
The best gift for students if they wish to attain the wisdom.
The best way to calm the minds when you are going through highs
During the production of “the Sound in Lotus Land”, I got a chance to listen to its first edition, an extraordinary energy of sound streamed through my body and toward the very deep down to my cells, to my soul. Suddenly, an unprecedented sadness came to me. I was bursting into tears just like the rushing floods. The original sound has washed away the thick dust in my soul and softened my stubborn heart.
In the end of production, Terry and I listened to the EP together. It was my second time to listen to it. We sat down and listened to the original sound sincerely. The sound was far off, peaceful, quiet and still. Unexpectedly, the positive energy made both of us fall asleep on the sofa for a long while. The feeling of touching and gratitude were lasting in my heart. Not a word can describe it.

“The Sound in Lotus Land” has great merciful power to benefit all beings, as boundless as “Impermanence”. We might not have the ears that appreciate the music, but we do have a sincere, opened heart to let the energy flow gently. The heavy chains in our hearts slowly got break, the entanglements slowly got loose. You have every right to cry out the burdens in your heart while listen to the purified original sound.
Having a sincere mind; a mind of utmost sincerity can transform the secular mind and help meditation. If the listener receives the original sound with sincere mind, it will help the listener to be in depth meditation. With the pure mind, the sound goes through the highest level thoroughly. So that you can get to the path to Buddhahood and, what’s more, leads you to a great liberation.
On March 2014, Ray Ting had the first consultation with Master Hong Sheng. Master shared and taught us the law of universe. End of consultation, he invited Master to have a trip to Hualian and Tai Tung. Therefore, we had this wonderful opportunity to travel to the “Lotus Land”. Because of this trip, I haverealized many of my weaknesses and my bad attitude I had never noticed. I appreciated the opportunity to see how far that I need to work on it.
Master Hong Sheng sang a pure amazing sound in the Fei Cui Valley. The original sound echoed and resounded around the mountains. At that moment, I couldn’t listen to the sound with my calm mind, I was thinking too much. After the trip, by learning Master’s teaching for a year, I finally understood more of the truth of life. The Buddhism teaching is unspeakable. It flows in our daily life.

For a best-selling CD, it catches customers’ eyes through the fancy overwrap, the fame of the singer or big advertisement. Most of the healing-style music in the market is usually sung by singers who are experienced and well-know. However, none of these CDs can be played repeatedly 24\7 and even being praised by the heavenly spirits in the shrine. These unique songs are healing being with the great mercy not the moldy. It is the original sound that shows Master Hong Sheng’s compassion for all others as we are one entity.
Precious original sound pricelessly flows in the universe.
Enlightened Master Hong Sheng who sings to liberate all sentient beings with causes and conditions, not only each single tone and rhythm mean infinity, but also the sound heals beings like cure-all medicine. Even there were some noises during outdoor recordings or noises from listeners’ movements; it won’t chance the value of the sound.
There might be some audients will feel uncomfortable in their first contacts of original sound. The feeling will be washed away after a certain time.
Initially, I first learned Buddhism from Master Hong Sheng at a banquet held by Ms. Shen, who was a teacher of Chinese. During the meal, Master Hong Sheng talked cheerfully and humorously to everyone. We had a nice chat at that time. Moreover, a miracle happened. To our surprise, my wife’s chronic illnesses such as migraines and insomnia were cured in a flash by Master. My wife had been suffering from these illnesses for ages, and now she seemed like a new person. We were really full of gratitude for Master. Since then, we have decided to follow Master Hong Sheng’s teaching to advance on the path to Enlightenment.
Later, we have learned many people had suffered from serious diseases like hyperthyroidism, lupus erythematosus, autism and cancer…etc. has cured by Master Hong Sheng. Some people had got into trouble with relationship, family and business. All of them have solved their problems with Master’s help. Besides, I even witnessed that the beings from spirit also asked for help from the Master.
Master’s original sound, the Buddha’s voice, transcends all the boundaries of space; it clams, comforts, cures and purifies sentient beings’ soul and mind. His massage is using only one sound, and is able to deliver to all the beings; all the audience can fully understand Him. Master once taught us, “The original sound inspires our self-innate-nature. The only way to lift our spirits is to cultivate our moral characters and keep practice. Then, our life will have positive energy and get the efficacy.”
The Master treats all beings with love and compassion. He helps people to follow the cause and condition and always to maintain a pure mind. When I listened respectfully to the Master’s music at the scene, I felt peaceful. I enjoyed the awesome sound so much. The sound is too precious to be exclusively enjoyed. Therefore, I made a request for releasing the EP in order to share with more people. Thanks to my classmate, Eric Chen, a famous music producer. With his help, the EP is released.
The era fills with a variety of spiritual problems;
it is the time to let the original sound to awaken the souls.
The physical universe is an actualization of thought. “We are what we think or act.” With our own thoughts we create our worlds. As a matter of fact, every one of us is practically creating a lot of karmas, wholesome or unwholesome, to make cause and effect every day. Every time when we turn on the TV or read the newspaper, many negative reports coming from chaotic medium. Few people can maintain their pure mind and avoid the toxic energies. However, most of people are not able to stay calm being exposed under the negative energy. As a result, bad thoughts become negative energies bringing bad influences into our worlds. When the balance between human and nature is broken, the distance between each other is getting wider, even more, the harmony between people and different dimensions is broken, and human being will be influenced both mental and physical. Thus, more and more people are suffering from anxious diseases like hypochondria or dementia. Luckily, thanks to the appearance of the original sound, the best medicine for spiritual problems. It’s full of so much purest and kindest energies that will have a great help for beings. Follow the wisdom of Manjushri Bodhisattva, follow the mercy of Kwan-Yin Bodhisattva, the epic proportions sound not only cures the diseases but also goes a step further to lift the lives, in addition, to bring the world to the right trick.
The cure-all medicine heals diseases of modern civilization.
Human beings have six senses, and hearing is the most approachable one of all. The original sound makes a subtle change on people physically and mentally. The universe consists of the vibration of thoughts. Therefore, all forms of substances exist through the process of vibration. The original Sound makes a divine vibration energy field. The power of sound cures chronic diseases; repair our cells safely with no cause of side effects. For example, by listening to the original sounds, pregnant ladies have felt more comfortable during the pregnancy and have delivered their babies smoothly. At the same time, the sound also has made a difference on the babies, helping them become healthier and more intelligent. In addition, those who have a special mental ability like psychics, they are easily get distracted by the spirit world, by listening to the sounds, they have become peaceful and have had better communication with the spirit world. Listening to the sound benefits us in many ways. It helps stabilize us physically and mentally, harmonize our magnetic field, explain and dissolve the mystery of karmas, and therefore, to change our destiny, to create a new chapter in our life.
In Dr. Masaru Emoto’s water experiment, it was proven that water particles are capable of sensing. When they sense the good energy of sound, they crystalize more beautifully. In the same fashion, 70 % of a human body is made up of water. Therefore, positive and subtle changes may be generated under the influence of good energy of sound waves. Master Hong Sheng’s original sound generates a tranquil, balanced, and spiritual field of waves and energy. This ultimate pure and kind sound is one of the major practicing courses and ways of YJYLC enlighten teaching, which purifies and benefits the fallowers as well as overcomes obstacles and difficulties while in the secular world. The great compassion of the sound is talking into your heart and your soul.
only those who have the virtue of the Buddha-nature can sing it.
The original sound is neither recorded in the studio nor edited by computer. The pure sound comes out with plentiful energy spontaneously. Only people who possess Mahayana, the Great vehicle and have virtuous achievements can dominate the original sound. Even though there are similar sounds on the market, due to different people's inner cultivations will cause different affections. Master Hong Sheng, who owns both virtues and skills, gives off the sound with powerful and deep force, like the Buddha’s incredible present.
Act without effort. Give off the sound by self-nature
that answers to the needs.
The power is limited when an action is painstaking; however, original sound is be singing from self-nature, it’s an action without effort, it answers to different time, objects, occasions, places spontaneously. Master Hong Sheng gives off the sound accordingly. It is an especial medicine that beyond description and imagination. Whoever hears the pure sounds will feel joyful and fulfilled. With different tones, the original sound gives each what he or she needs.

The Hualien trip-A new chapter of my life
At my first consultation with Master Hong Sheng, I invited him to visit Hualien to enjoy the beautiful mountains and rivers.
From this trip, I had learned that we practice those rules of Buddhism within daily issues; do I live in the moment? Whatever I encounter, can I just do my best and let it go? I’ve learned how to accomplish one thing with a devoted heart, and have a willingness of making it perfect. After that, I won’t expect to be praised by others. As we do everything fallowing above descriptions, the spirits will lift up to a higher level. I’ve learned so much from this trip.
Besides, instead of worrying and wondering all the time, it’s better to believe the law of the universe, so we just go with flow and go with the causes and conditions.
After the album “IMPERMANENCE”, another masterpiece
“THE SOUND IN LOTUS LAND” is born.
The original sound is the wisdom speeches without words. Those who have been benefited by Master Hong Sheng’s first album “Impermanence” have been cured by the incredible energy that has healed the imbalance in bodies, minds, and souls. They have kept asking Master for new album to release from time to time. Finally the opportunity arrived, when the Master Hong Sheng was invited to visit Hua Lien in autumn 2014. He gave off the great sound in the natural scene; the fallowers who companied the Master took the chance to record the original sound, and to release the precious single EP.
In August 2014, Master Hong Sheng was invited by a lovely couple to travel to Fei Cui Valley where was beautiful and amazing. It is a tourist spot in Haulien for university students as well as a holy place for local aborigines.
Incidentally, as we saw a natural tunnel, the original sound rose. It was pure and simple; it was like from heaven. The awakening sound echoed and resounded around the mountains. It was the sound of nature. The positive energy was just like clear stream which was flawless and spontaneous. All of us were amazed by the sound; therefore, Terry Wang asked if this sound could be released in the future. After the trip, Terry Wang asked Eric Chen and his team to produce the EP of the original sound. With many good chances for cooperation, an extraordinary EP had been born.
Not only Eric Chen, who was willing to help with the production, but also Xiao Yan, who draw lovely illustrations for this EP, and NyuCi , who designed the artwork. Everyone did the best they could. They performed the way of action through inaction. By all the good hearts, “the Sound in Lotus Land” had come out.
This CD collects the songs sung by Master Hong Sheng. “Impermanence” means the harmonious sound from mind. In 2004, Master Hong Sheng was invited to Fo Guang Temple for recording. With some simple recording device, the sound of Master Hong Sheng was first recorded and saved to a digital file.
In 2006, Master Hong Sheng held an exhibition, Creation Forum, in Kaohsiung Fine Arts Museum. He combined his installation art work with his sound recorded two years ago. The visitors were amazed by the sound and wanted to collect the music. So as to meet the expectation of the visitors, Master Hong Sheng released the full version of the CD with the help of DA-WORKSHOP. Morgan Tu, one of Master’s friends,pay all the expense of the CD and a staff of the Fine Arts Museum designed the cover of the CD. Thanks to these people for their kind giving. “Impermanence” was finally come out.
All the songs in this album are sung by Master Hong Sheng, who is an artist and musician. He performed in the 2007 Midem International Music Festival ( Cannes, France ). Master Hong Sheng is also a spiritual teacher and has comforted many restless hearts with his voice and paintings.
